Event Information
A rocking 1hour and 20 minutes of roped climbing time at Boulders with 2:1 instruction from committee members. No former experience required so be sure to rope your housemates in with you! With the club securing reduced offset prices, don't belayte, get your tickets before they run out: it'll be a quickdraw!!
What to expect:
once you've got your ticket you can book
Harnesses and shoes will be provided, although if there are too few of our free shoes you can rent them from Boulders for the session.
You'll have 1 hour and 20 minutes of fully supervised climbing time where you'll be taught to tie yourself in, how to belay and tips when climbing, all by our lovely committee.
Time in the bouldering area (short walls, no ropes, crash mats) is unfortunately NOT included due to Covid regulations.
Physical distancing between yourselves and the committee and staff will be maintained at all times as well as approprate face-covering usage.
Getting there and back:
There are public transport links only a quick bolt from Tal-y-Bont residences on Northern Av by 'Big Tescos' or Cathays Library on Whitchurch Rd on the number 1 (there) and 2 (back) busses, to Pengham road right outside the centre. there are also bus links near the Senghenydd residences. The last bus is at 19:47, so beware!!
Pump those tyres up: Boulders is only a 20 minute cycle from the SU, and there is a Nextbike station on Newport Road, a 5 minute walk from the centre (to avoid racking up a fine).
If you want to walk or jog its feasable too with a ~40 minute walk from the SU or a 15 minute jog (as long as you dont get a Cramp-on).
Get your motors in gear: there are also plenty of parking spaces on-sight if you want to drive, but you must NOT be in the car with anyone from outside of your household as we are required to report any knowledge of such activity to the SU. (See the Welsh Government website for more info.)
