Pop  + Layni Concert

Two School of Music ensembles showcase their musical talent in a joint concert.

“Lanyi” means “gathering” in Susu, a language spoken in Guinea, West Africa, and captures the communal bonding generated through musical participation. Through a range of instrumental, vocal and dance traditions, the ensemble explores the repertoire of West African cultures - expect drumming, dancing, singing, and general high spirits.

The Pop Collective is made up of a number of bands, who will perform a range of genres, including pop, rock, soul, and folk. The songs range from your favourite belters to brand new music written by members of the Collective. Whether you like to appreciate your music quietly from the back of the room, or sing and dance right at the front, there will be something for everyone.

Come with your friends to enjoy this unique musical experience.
